Sounds in the Dawn

“I want to be in bed at 11pm every night,” I said.
“Nate, why would you want to go to bed so early?” my friend asked.
“Why not?” I respond.
“Because you’re in college.”

Why by Eleven?

This morning I arose at 7:30 to the sound of music on my alarm clock. I mustered myself from bed to turn it off and fell into pondering what I would do with my morning. The thoughts of watching stat lectures or cleaning the house came to mind, but ultimately I found myself once again lying down awake, relaxing in bed, listening to my little rock fountain and the chirping of birds outside my window. The sun had just begun to rise, shining it’s first rays through my eastward facing window, greeting my rested face with the warmth of photon energy. Ultimately I wound up setting my alarm back an hour and sleeping further on into the morning, drifting in and out as the various sounds and sensations until the morning beckoned me forth.
Sleep, can Nate come out to play?

Perhaps this morning was not what I would classify as my ideal morning , but it comes closer to what my ideal day would start off with. Read the rest of this entry »
